Huntley Castle by Jonathan Wheeler
Huntly Castle is a noble ruin in a beautiful setting, remarkable for both the quality of its architecture and for its eventful history. Built originally by the earls of Fife, the castle became the spiritual home of Clan Gordon who made it the stronghold their own from the 14th century onwards renaming it Huntly Castle. The castle evolved from the motte and bailey of the 12th century, through the tower house of the later Middle Ages, to the stately palace that dominates the site today.
