At foot of the Black Cuillins, near Glenbrittle, are the Fairy Pools, with their beautifully crystal clear waters cascading along the River Brittle. These famous pools have entranced visitors from all over the world, some even brave enough to endure the frigid mountain stream temperatures for a bit of wild swimming.  The vivid blues and greens of the pools suggest a mystical or magical origin, as most other streams and rivers in Scotland are brownish-orange due to the influence of peat in the water.
